Concentrated (inertia) flows evolve into a bipartite flow, composed of a fast-moving inertia flow followed by a slow-moving sediment-laden turbulent flow. When the frontal inertia flow stops, the suspension cloud bypasses and reworks the former deposits. Modified from Mutti et al. 1999
